The Brunswick Danger Zone Purple Ice is a modern throwback piece that gives league bowlers clean length with a strong, angular backend for typical house shots. It is built around the classic Danger Zone core but wrapped in Brunswick’s latest HK22 pearl cover for more pop downlane.

Price and value
Most online pro shops list the Brunswick Danger Zone Purple Ice in the mid-range price tier, generally around 120–130 USD before drilling, making it accessible for the average league bowler looking for a performance upgrade without paying “high-end” prices. This pricing positions the Purple Ice as a strong value piece that can easily be the primary strike ball in a typical house-shot arsenal.

Core, cover, and specs
The Danger Zone Purple Ice uses the symmetrical “Danger Zone” core that traces back to Brunswick’s iconic 1990s Danger Zone line, giving it a familiar, rolly motion with modern numbers. The ball pairs that core with the HK22 – PowerKoil 26 pearl reactive coverstock, finished at 500 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound and Crown Factory Polish, which creates easy length and a quick response to friction.

For typical 14–16 lb balls, the RG is in the low–mid 2.5s with a differential of about 0.048, giving medium–high flare potential that is strong enough to create motion but not so flippy that it becomes uncontrollable for league play. The ball is offered from 10 to 16 pounds, so most league bowlers can find a weight that matches their fit.

Lane conditions and reaction
Brunswick categorizes the Danger Zone Purple Ice as an “Advanced / All Purpose” ball with a reaction shape strength rating of 64, meaning it is intended to match a wide range of league conditions rather than only heavy sport patterns. The design target is medium oil with a clean front-lane read, a defined breakpoint, and an angular but continuous motion through the pins.

On a typical house shot, most average rev/medium-speed bowlers can expect the Purple Ice to get down the lane easily, pick up in the midlane as it encounters friction, and then make a strong move off the dry that carries well when it sees the pocket. The DynamiCore outer material also helps energy retention and improves pin carry by reducing compression at impact, which is useful when corners are an issue.
