Bowling fans and bowlers alike took the journey down to Baton Rouge this year for the 121st USBC Open Championships. The yearly tournament was held from March 1st through July 28th at the Raising Cane's River Center. This is the third visit to Baton Rouge for this historic tournament, and it saw some impressive numbers. The USBC governing body did an amazing job, as always, transforming an event center into a state-of-the-art 54-lane bowling center. Over 58,000 bowlers competed in the tournament, with 11,684 five-bowler teams, the largest team total since 2012.
The 2025 Championship featured 18 perfect games and 5 800-series sets, with tournament highs in both Regular and Standard divisions. Among the standout moments, Julian Brown delivered a perfect game during doubles competition, electrifying the crowd and inspiring bowlers of all skill levels.
Marc McDowell emerged as a star in Regular Singles, bowling games of 299,196, and 300 for a 795 series and winning his third USBC Eagle and second at Baton Rouge. The team of William Welch, James Tucker III, Joseph Vrobel, Chad Kloss, and Mitch Beasley won the Team Championships under the name of Bowler's Headquarters.
The tournament bowlers competed in three different divisions based on their average: Regular Division, Standard Division, and Classified Division.
